Eeeeeeeeeeeep, eeeeeeeeeeeep.eeeeeeeeeep I,Hampster, sit alone in a cage by a wire wheel hung on the side My paws hold s leaf of lettuce at my busy mouth I'm fat, bored and lazy and I sleep all the time The floor of shredded newspaper is my toilet and bed The kid who owns me hardly gives me a nod Ig it was'nt for his mother I would surely be dead I hear him comming I panic and run on the wire wheel going no where Eeeeeeeeeep, eeeeeeeeeep, eeeeeeeeeeeep I see his face pressed against the bars of the cage He has a stupid grin plastered on his face Eeeeeeeeeep, eeeeeeeeeep, eeeeeeeeeeeep Heisliftingthelockonthecagedoorheopensthedoor andthrustsishandinsideandgropeswildlyformeIrunaroundthecagetryingtoavoidhisgraspbuttonoavaile Eeeeeeeeeeep, eeeeeeeeep, eeeeeeeeeeeep He grips me painfully in his sweaty fist This is the part I really hate most He rubs my fur the wrong way Till I look like I have been struck by lighting Eeeeeeeeeeeep, eeeeeeeeep, eeeeeeeeeeeep Now he shoves a foul smeeling pellet in my face My body fills with a rage that uver powers my fear I bite deeply into his thumb and he flings me across the room I quickly recover and scurry under the bed He runs to get a broom He probes franticly for me But I'm not there Eeeeeeeeeeeep, eeeeeeeeeep, eeeeeeeeeeeep Now I am free My heart leaps for joy I live in the park now I have been chased But I evade them in the bushes I listen to all the other animals talk I know about cats and kids But what is this "Road kill" thing? paladin [This message has been edited by paladin (08-03-2002 04:31 PM).] |

Paladin... as a chipmunk, I can sympathize with that poor hamster. Although I don't have a wire wheel and a cage, and I live in a house. I also drive a car and although I have never meant to...have probably been responsible for some of that roadkill. I love the poem...especially that part about the little hamster running around with the kid chasing him. ~ furry rodent hugs Lyra |

paladin, what a hilarious story, I can vouch for the fact it happened just like that when my son had a guinea pig, only the jungle was the backyard it took us three days to find it. Keth Here in the midst of my lonely abyss, a single joy I find...your presence in my mind. Unknown |

ROFLMAO!!! I love this, paladin. Perhaps runaway hamsters are the origin of our giant rodents... they don't understand the concept of road kill either... so they are. *S* |
