On wooded crest of distant hill,
A solemn hush lays on all things,
Night's silence reigns, no sounds until,
First breath of dawn in glory sings.

Lone whippoorwill in morning's song,
Mesmeric note's to touch one's soul.
With murmurs soft as passion's long,
Darkness cedes to sun's extol.

As fades last glow of Luna's sliver,
Sound blessed hymns of memories' bliss,
Long, long agoes on wind's deliver,
From verdant plains of reminisce.

Fades soft our past in night's retreat,
Before advance of sunlight's greet.
