where the heart finds me

Queen Bee

Lie, she said, upon my open sheets
unsheath thy stinger, my yellow knight
We'll make tallow together, bequeathed
Grant me the passion in royal light

Thusly honored, he shed his suit
of black and gold that amorous night
strummed like a harp; whispered lute
he played her song till morning light

The room: an earth all to its own
the bed an ocean on which to sail
Never a thought of sharing her thrown
He fell in love, but to no avail.

Not for taking, this elegant bee
Nor for breaking by gallantry
She broke his heart with final kiss
Life never blessed with eternal bliss

And never again would she look his way
Another knight would be taken alive
She vanquished his heart that could not stay
and banished him back to a lonely hive.
