Who has put this rainbow in prison?
Who has painted this moth in cold rain?
Even the name is something consumable.
So many faces changing to flame.

Who has trapped this sky in a bubble?
Who has fractured the whisper of light?
When it should float beyond the clouds
it shudders and falls apart within sight.

Who has snapped the ribs of the road?
Who has kissed the dandelion dead?
Even those particles know how to fly
from your lips, to seed the sky's unfed.

Who has put this rainbow in prison?
What has clipped your shadow to bars?
I can see you against the far window.
You pass by again, in many cars.

Inspired by a recent prose piece by Janet Marie.

I'm glad you all enjoyed this small poem on Janet's much more expansive vision. And Janet, I'm glad you enjoyed these words. It's hard not to know you, when I read you.

Much love to y' all.

And I love your words. And you. Duh.

The loneliest words you'll ever know:
if only, if only it were so.
