I Watched

Shadows of bright drift into night
Filtered by clouds prisms of light.
Specters of gold azure and green
Far as mind and eyes could have seen.

And the wind played upon the leaves
Boughs in dance with flowing green sleeves
Grass filled meadows, flowers of dare
Sending aroma into the air.

I laid me down on a lie of sass
Watched the stars fill the sky in mass
Breathed in beauty in grandeur’s sighs
As tears ran gently down my eyes

What have we done this patch of earth
This place that has given us birth
Where will we find another home?
Or will our Eden turn to stone.

It’s not for myself, I weep and sigh
But for humanity, I cry.

Stunning !

Beautiful color and imagery here Sy.
But...we have done this to the land ourselves.
Such a waste...such a waste.
Excellent write as always love.

Nothing can replace nature and we are so careless with it. I liked your political content.

this is especially poignant...

Youve done much more than watch...often your poetry has spoken of your respect for the Earth and your concerns for mankind's mistreat of it...every time you give a voice to those concerns, you reach someone and maybe, just maybe we will do something differently...one person at a time making a change adds up. As always the humilty of your wisdom moves me.

I love this description, Sy...and it's pertinence to the way we live today.
Indeed, I often wonder why we have destroyed our ecosystem, with automobile exhaust and pesticides etc.  And if we don't get a handle on it soon, our Eden may very well turn to stone...

(sigh) This is heartaching, sweet friend, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Seymour, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Sy

I'm sure that mother earth felt the tear in this poem...in some way, each with what we can, we can make a difference.

Seymour darling heart this is simply exquisite, I love it when your words flow with the beauty and the colour only you can paint them in. Mmmmm this is just too delicious for words.

Your ability to write of the tragedy of mans unwillingness to stop poisoning our planet is as always outstanding, you paint the scene as I’ve said so often, your light artistic touch to shade and illume your writing is amazing. The way you gently stroke the message into the soul of the reader truly is a gift and I thank you for the gift you have given me. The ability to really see the shape of things to come, ‘tis truly awesome. I love this utterly utterly utterly. Exquisite writing

Love and warm stuff
As always
Mushy

Breathe through the heat of our desire
Thy coolness and they balm
Let sense be dumb let flesh retire
Speak through the earthquake wind and fire

A beautifully melancholy, touching, and poignant piece, Sy.  I'm going to print this out and frame it...you're a man with great class and talent and I thank you for writing this well needed poem!

Take care,
Melissa~

Sy....this is a special one...that certainly
is a keeper by even the most stringent
of standards.....so sad how we have changed
the beauty of our home....
