In loving memory of my father who died on Thanksgiving Day 1985. He was gone when I woke To a far away place It's been seventeen years Since I've seen his face The things I recall Fade more with each day If I saw him once more What words would I say "Hey dad, let's go fishing" Or "Hey dad, let's play ball" "Dad, can we hang out And do nothing at all?" Perhaps we'd go hunting Or work on a car Instead we do nothing For he's in the stars I wanted you there dad When I was a groom But instead, God had called you What I thought was too soon With you I'd have shared My dreams and my hopes To me you'd have taught Some of life's "tricky ropes" So dad, if you're watching Or if you can hear There's one thing I wanted To make crystal clear When you left, I forgave you Because God chose your fate Dad, will you know me When we meet at the gate? When He also decides That my time is done I'll tell you I love you It's me dad, your son A bird never flies so high that it can't hit the ground [This message has been edited by Krishankins (07-30-2002 06:19 PM).] |

Kris, this was a beautiful, touching, wonderfully written memoir(sp) to your father. Beautiful, loving, wonderful. The love overflows. Kris, can I tell you that you're perhaps the best poet I've read on here? Just thought I'd mention that. Sincerely, Titus "They say that a hero can save us. I'm not gonna stand here and wait..." |

Krishankins - this is one of the most heartfelt poems I've read. You put all of your thoughts and feelings into and it shows. A most touching write... BC |
