Listening to every heart

0 posted 2002-07-30 03:14 PM

It Rippled Today

Did you feel it?  Ever so tentative,
less than a breath, a trigger
of action occurring in a touch
of finger's skin to temple
~ a catch of thought ~
so it has again begun.

It is moving closer although
it will have no final destination.

There can be no action without
a reaction, and nothing ever
comes to a complete stop.

Because there was a ripple today.

God, I pray
that I will be aware
of the nuances this very slight movement
will provide
~ a flash of color ~
~a scent so silently pervasive ~
and that I will know that
it touched me.

Like McKuen's "Stanyon Street"
the symbolism of the words alone
evade memories of things long gone,
but never forgotten.

I was not listening when that
ripple of yesterday passed, I had only
felt the breath of a decision
and that path then taken
lies in some wooded dream
of long ago.
Done rippled along in other directions.
Outcomes which someday
may ripple back to me.

Consider it never too late
to make life changing decisions,
as they only come to you
on ripples of conscience,
and do with it all the good
that you can.

Our lives....we create and feel ripples
daily....some that crash into others and
some which simply lap at their feet...
soothingly....

Excellent poem for the moment....

Kari,
you are the pebble in the pond, the ripples that flow from you change the world.

Great words. Ripples can have either a positive effect and then they are wonderful. Or they can be turbulent and affect so many and so much. But you're right, there are always ripples.

I like your 'softer than a breath' kind of ripple.

where is the ending
to the circle of life?
such a small pebble in a pond
rippling tides, wiping sweat from beaches
they are the legacys of woe
until they ripple back
from the out
back to the center

Sizzling writing, Karilea.  Handled
with perfect maturity and prophetic verse.
