Helpless Giants
By Paul Wilson

Across star lite skies
From shore to shore
Through forest of giants
The flames burn more and more

The embers at night so bright
Brighter than stars above
Their toll has been taken
From this land we love

Black clouds of smoke and haze
Blanket the mountains high
No relief in site
This beautiful land is just to dry

Another one started today
It’s tongue of flames reaching out
Trying to destroy the redwood giants
No relief in site from this drought

If only it would rain
To give us the upper hand
To save the forest and homes
From the flames trying to destroy our land

Paul~
This is a beautifully urgent plea~
I offer up the plea to the ancient spirit of the rain ... that the skies would open and gently douse the raging flames~

This is really good~

Paul, it breaks my heart to hear and read of all the forest fires across this great country of ours. So much of our beautiful landscape is being destroyed and the little forest critters and faeries don't stand a chance.

What really makes me angry is that many of these fires were intentionally set by a human. May they rot in jail forever.

I will see about getting my headdress on and bring on some rain - even in NE it is bone dry and I was out watering my beautiful flowers this morning.  Hugs, Marti

Marge... Thank You & thank the spirits for
all they do. I would really hate to see just one of those trees be destroyed. Can you imagine they were put here on earth 1100 years ago and to see them wiped out in an instant would be horrible.

Moon Dust... Maybe you and Marge could get together with the spirits and do like Monty Hall ( Make A Deal ) Thank you for caring
and taking the time to read.

Marti... These trees and all the little critters of the forest need help, so that they will be here for generations to come.
Your comments and concerns are appreciated very much, Thank You kind lady.

Sunshine... So greatful for your sweet words.
I love your name, but right now we need a Rain Cloud just joking

Seymour... Very Thankful for your caring words. Glad you enjoyed it.

Paul,  your title spoke so clearly...I knew
before reading that this was about our trees,
particularly our redwoods......those which
have lived such long and majestic lives and
stand to be lost....

Yes,  pray for rain and mercy....

Then there is the story in the news about a man starting a fire so he could get a job as a fire fighter.

Paladin... I heard this story... So he will most likely go to prison.. and then who will support his family? You & I and all the other caring people. Is there no justice?
Thanks for the reply.

Magnus... Glad you liked it. I wasn't sure
what to use as a title till after I had written it. I hope those trees are here till the end of time for all to enjoy.

On behalf of all of the little critters who live in the forest,  I thank you for this plea for rain, Paul...
This has been one of the dryest summers I ever remember.  But Michigan had one nightmare of a storm last Thursday night...and we finally got some rain.  Hopefully, the giants will end up getting some also.

Lyra... Thanks for the kind words.
Glad you got some rain. Down here in south Louisiana it has been raining for 2 days at my house. I would gladly share it with others
if I could.

Paul

Seems hard to believe that something that has been around for so many years, can be destroyed so quickly.
