Seems as if most every time I put my pencil to the page
I commit another rhyme. ( I'll never learn to act my age!)
Though true I've studied many forms to learn poetic etiquette,
what I percieve as a brain-storm most likely means that I'm all wet!

I'm guilty ! Lord, lock me away, no matter what I try to do.
It's true they say that rhymes don't pay, but even if they did wouldn't you,
think that I'd know better now than to use them all the time?
To the scheme, returned somehow.( as in where I did the rhyme!)

Justice must be truly blind, or I wouldn't get off so light,
every pun that comes to mind, it "be-hoovest" me to write!
Doesn't matter in the least just how low I have to stoop,
when they call the Pun Police, I've already flown the coop!

" For these rhymes that you've committed, Doc, we sentence you to pay,"
"either that, or keep on writing in your own dim-witted way."
"Poetry's a noble pastime, you should show it more respect!"
(So this time I'll skip the punchline, more than what most would expect!)

So it goes, an uphill battle, one that I was born to lose.
Fought the law with mindless prattle, now I got the poets' blues.

Since I thoroughly enjoy your rhymes, I hope your sentence to keep writing is a long one, with no possibility of parole! *G* Great work, Doc! *S*

(giggles in delight) Oh my gosh, I love this, sweet friend, I think this is your best yet, it is so very true that some people believe poetry is out-dated, yet without its splendour imagination would have no nickname and would be colorless and with the power of rhyme we emphasize the melody! (big hugggsssssss) This is wonderful, sweet friend, I am adding this to my library because it is marvelous, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet William, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

I really enjoyed this rhyme you have committed, Doc...
I guess we'll just have to call the poetry police won't we?

What say, run out of rhyme?
Not soon or anytime!
I'd dearly miss that chime . . .
In fact, would be a crime!

Munda, suthern, Noah, Lyra, Krawdad,
Thank you all for replying. I know that I have fallen from favor for not replying more often to the poems of others. I carry that burden of guilt every time I post. However,
I have made the choice to keep on writing in what limited time I have, and, posting here.
This has been my literary home for almost three years. Hopefully there will come a time when I can give something back. Thanks again,
Doc
