one is sited far out in space we run around, not a moment to waste will it strike the earth while I am here Can I watch it hit while I drink a beer? sarcasm has the best of me of other worldy, we are not to flee pick your choice how to view one in a million chances look around quickly as the earth escapes your glances. monuments will continue to rise in the image of man cities rise and fall as do life spans and the asteroid can hit at any while to bring man back to his prehistoric piles. does it matter if you invest in bricks or build a house of mud and sticks asteriods are lonely rocks human kind is a lonely stock. Passing shadows the nothing lasts forever we associate to trends, civilizations when you talk about a total wipe out, that doesn't faze you..even a little. By the way a nuclear holocaust is more likely and you never know when and how... part of life in a bizarre way... thanks for sharing Sy, oh yes, why worry ...won't be around none of my direct descendants either..thanks for sharing |

I like your thoughts on this. It is unnerving, especially consdering the one that passed very close recently, that the astronomers never saw till JUST before. Another great escape I guess. And yeah, what is the meaning of life, anyway. Sandra |

In Viet Nam I became a true believer in fatalism. If it's going to happen it will and if it's not it wont.So why worry about it? paladin |

Great write Martin...leaving lots for the reader to ponder.. But, I can't sit around and worry about it...I have a worry list a mile long now. Love your unique style of writing. ~Hugs~ ~Somewhere in my heart I'm always |

does it matter if you invest in bricks or build a house of mud and sticks asteriods are lonely rocks human kind is a lonely stock. I love the metaphor, Martin... Do you remember back in the late seventies when that space station fell from the sky, and they kept telling us to keep our kids inside... Well, it took 2 weeks and I was so paranoid about letting my kids play outside...and this was in the summer when they had no school. Finally it fell into the Indian Ocean or somewhere remote like that...and my kids were so mad that they never let me forget how crazy I was. ![]() Lyra |

![]() ![]() ![]() (big hugggssssssss) I heard recently that scientists discovered an asteroid that at first was projected to hit the Earth in 2017 but now they report that it won't hit the Earth after all! (sigh) Whew!!! This is wonderfully said, sweet friend, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Martin, thank you for sharing! ![]() May love and light always shine upon you! Wonder where all the interest suddenly appeared from, for a while this poem had no comments and then presto..never underestimate the power of the pen I guess... yes my cafe..there is a definite message at the end Lyra, Overprotective? A lot of mothers are..well at least you realized what fear can do. font> [This message has been edited by ecrivan (08-01-2002 02:06 AM).] |

ecrivan, yes, total wipe out bothers me, extinction of animal species bothers me, war bothers me...I live my life and raise my kids the best way I know how. And I love my day. Dying is part of living. Total wipe-out is something I think we all think about at some time or another... from up in the sky, we look so small and insignificant, compared to what's around us. |

maybe that's it from up there we're nothing more than a fleck of dust..and yet the way we behave is as if we can maintain total permanance...I'm also refering to socio-political status quo, how change is inevitable..and an asteroid entering our air apace is an extreme case but an example none the less.
