Moved from a shack to a barn

The Haunting

I am haunted by her
Still

Years after I had screwed it all up
Paying penance for my transgressions
Still

I don my hair shirt daily
The memory of her does not diminish
Images of her will not fade
No day dawns that I am not gladdened
Then saddened by the thought of her
Still

I hear her breathless laughter
Unbidden, I see those trusting eyes
My heart just stops
When I hear her mentioned
Still

I miss her terribly
She haunts me
Still
