You caught me by surprise On a night I was alone Not expecting to see anyone Just a quiet night at home I was hesitant at first Not believing it was you Then I knew there was no doubt From the words I was to view It had been so long since I'd seen you For you had left without a trace I had questioned what went wrong As many tears fell down my face I buried myself in my poetry Sharing the feelings within my soul But there was something missing In my heart there was a hole But now you have returned Our friendship remains ever true As I look back with much fondness To the day I first met you * * * * * This was written for a friend named Dave from the U.K. who I met nearly three years ago.We have never met in person but share a special bond and respect for each other and he was one of the first people who encouraged me to start posting my poetry on the internet so I owe him a lot. I am in motion |
