After All These Years ~*Marge Tindal*~ After all these years I don't want to see your tears knowing that they still fall for me~ What we had was once so good and when it wasn't anymore I tried to let you go ... but you said that your heart wasn't mine to direct and you'd keep loving me as long as you wanted~ ... and you have ... After all these years I don't want to see your tears knowing that they still fall for me~ ~*The pen of the poet never runs out of ink, as long as we breathe.*~ |

Marge, how heart-wrenchingly beautiful! though i wouldn't want to be in this sort of situation, both the narrator and the "you"..i wonder about the past they have shared together..it must have been awesome... |

Geesch! How kind....my 'x' wasn't that nice? It was more like... How can I say I miss ya when I can't get ya to leave.. How can I feel loneliness when I don't have room to breathe... You said that you'd take care of me, I think I've been deceived....how can I get you to leave.....????? Have ya ever heard that blues song; "I'd rather be blind than to see you go?" |

One of my very first poems written to my Husband and posted was After All These Years...it was my cry for help..for someone or something to shake him, wake him up...stop his drinking, as I watched my whole world fall apart.... hugssss M |

Marge, After all these years have you only figured out the heart heart is a stubborn creature not willing to be tamed to bridle and bit. You expressed this so well Kethry Here in the midst of my lonely abyss, a single joy I find...your presence in my mind. Unknown |

This sounds like two people still in love but their hearts are in a tug o war with each other and neither one wanting to let go even though sometime one has to let go. Very Though provoking as well as good. |

FriendsAll~ Sometimes ... one is so personal that it needs to be written, but cannot necessarily be explained ... Sometimes there is a love that transcends all time, distance and circumstance ... and it is a very, very special thing to experience~ "Sometimes in the cool of the evening, the truth comes like a lover through the wind." - John Michael Talbot Thank you all so much for the kindness of your replies~ MartieSis ... what a sweet, sweet thought from you ... but then ... that's what a Sis is for~ *HUGS* to all~ ~*Marge*~ ~*The pen of the poet never runs out of ink, as long as we breathe.*~ |

"But you said your heart wasn't mine to direct." Very nicely said. No one wants to let go of a good thing. I like this poem, it speaks from a different vantage point. SimplyGold |

InterLoper~ I just 'knew' you'd understand~ Thank you~ VanDana~ As always ... thank you~ SimplyGold~ Sometimes we reach over and pull the door closed ... Yet no matter how hard we try ... we realize that it's only 'closed' on our side~ I will always appreciate the tenderness of his continuing love~ *Hugs* ~*Marge*~ ~*The pen of the poet never runs out of ink, as long as we breathe.*~ |
