In the Mood of You

As the daylight slips away,
settling in for the evening,
I wander through my thoughts.
Endless are the moments of time,
those spent with you.
I share these thoughts with those of others
not in comparison, nor to be pitied or envied,
but in an exploration of happiness,
discovering the meaning of second chances.

Many days I am lonesome,
wyntered by the season's change
wondering if I am moving backwards,
sleeping, holding onto yesterdays dreams.
I yearn for you, a peacefulness that surrounds me
when soaking up your touch.

I am trying to cross that stream,
reaching out for arms to capture me,
wanting to be consumed.
Sometimes I see you swallowing my nights,
pressing my boundaries, scattering my patterns
to make room for the new.

My eyes remain open, even in sleep,
afraid I will miss your touch that has branded me yours.
I cannot lie to you, my eyes speak the truth,
my lips wait to taste yours.
I bathe tonight in the mood of you,
meditate to still the desires,
see your smile in the waters reflection
and suspend myself, as I rummage through my memories
tending to my needs, my mood of you.
