~*~ Youth's Sweet Aroma ~*~
For Serenity

In this our life, the road extends,
our evening falls as night intends.
Time’s shadow falls in the setting sun,
birds rest, and flowers close one by one.

The smell of youth’s aroma flows,
all to soon, that’s how it goes.
I breathe in now, the here and there,
just glad I wake to the suns glare.

The moon it tucks me in night.
A tiara of stars becomes my light.
Aromas mingle in the scented air,
attention to detail I observe with care.

The door to my house is open though,
its light shines bright in storm and snow.
All souls are welcome in here at night,
tired or hungry to just share my light.

We sip together the tea of sorrow,
eating cookies of hope for tomorrow.
They recall their past with me a while,
I soothe their soul for their extra mile.

My kitchen has a door and window there,
In my bedroom are a bed and a chair.
My mirror holds the image of a girl long gone,
But I give thanks each day when all is done.

In this wonderful life, I have all I need,
My faith, family, and friends stifle greed.
I’ve seen and done, and been back again,
And finish my day, with a whispered, “Amen!”

Yes, those were the days you should have seen.
I wish I could take you to where I have been.
Where I walked so very few now remain,
They got lost in a peace sign on a chain.

Listen to me sing my songs of joy,
Of memories that no time will destroy.

~* This is for Serenity *~

This speaks to the 60’s a bit as I reflect.
Please watch for a series I will do if you are interested at all,
and thank you for reading the first one for the person who inspired them.

Nothing means more to me than faith,
family and my friends.

This really gets me tripping, Sharon...
It is so groovy
I love your stripe of hippie rebelliousness, it matches mine....and the poem is so beautifully done, I think its the best I've ever seen you write.
I'm looking forward to the rest of the series.

I am absolutely thrilled that you got a kick out of the boring one, and I know I am going to have a total blast doing more of these.  Don't feel shy, if you feel like jumping in with your memories, write on, the more the merrier, as those truly were the days!  Cat, thanks for the link it was great!

You found my ole car!!!!!!!!  Oh joy....wondered where it had gone to. LOL

What a sheer treat this was........can't wait to see the rest of the series. I especially liked the point you made of those "lost in the peace sign".  Can't tell you how much that one means to me but just know it did.  Nice to read some "fun" poetry and still have it be "good" poetry at the same time.  Well done.

Sharon,
This is far out! Man this is cool.
Don't we need like a flower child smilie or somethin' for this series, like I could dig it.

If tears could build a stairway and memories a lane, I'd walk right up to heaven and bring you home again.

Again I'm glad you are enjoying this, but also wish you would have fun with it to let the younger folks here see what those times were like.  Perhaps we can make this a challenger and then after it wears thin we can move to the 70's, and so on?  Sandra (Catalinamoon) caught the bug, here is her poem on the 60's.... /pip/Forum70/HTML/002487.html
