Nature’s Gifts

Have you ever heard the sound of falling leaves
Have you ever heard the fall wind blowing through trees

Have you ever heard the sound of squirrels as they play
Have you ever heard the sound of rain on a cloudy day

Have you ever heard the birds sing their song
Have you ever said this is where I belong

To be as one with all of nature’s sounds
To be content with these wonders we have found

Have you ever looked at a mountain with wonder
Have you ever been startled by the sound of thunder

Have you ever touched a giant Sequoia tree
Have you ever seen a deer running free

Have you ever smelled a cool mountain spring
Have you ever heard the flutter from a dove’s wing

To be in tune with these sounds so many of us take for granted
To be as one with nature’s gifts makes me feel enchanted

Have you ever caught a snow flake in your hand
Have you ever built a castle in the sand

Have you ever seen a fish jump in the air
Have you ever seen a wild bear

Have you ever watched a butterfly being born
Have you ever felt the chill of a cool fall morn

To be able to experience these gifts made by God’s hand
To be surrounded by all of nature’s gifts makes life so grand

This is truly beautiful Paul...
I believe the readers in the Spiritual Journeys Forum would love to have seen this.
Perhaps after a period of time goes by you could repost this there.
A very uplifting write poet sir.

Enchantress.. I never thought of this poem as being spiritual but now that you mention it I can see the connection since all things are created by the master.
Thank You Very much.

This is a lovely poem, Paul...
I believe that the best gifts of all, are the ones we recieve from nature.

This afternoon, my husband was out on our deck and looked over the railing to see a little chipmunk putting sunflower seeds in it's cheekpouches.  We usually put them in our birdfeeder and then the squirrel shakes the birdfeeder so they fall down on the ground.
We haven't seen too many chipmunks here, but now we know that there is a little chipmunk family living right under our downstairs deck.

Reminds me of home .....
And yes, I have seen all of these wonderful gifts of nature,
(with the exception of a butterfly being born.) Hehe

Thank you for reminding us all, with flowing words and beautiful images!
