The Signal Man. It's been a really hard shift here at Grand Central Station, pulling switches and levers for eight hours or more. Despatching trains all over the nation, my arms are stiff, and my fingers are sore. My relief arrives with lemonade, sandwiches and cake, saying "Hows it gone 'Pops'?, a great job you've done, no crashed trains, all running to time, go have a break" Compliments indeed from my youngest Grandson !!!! Dedicated to all those Dads and Grandads out there whose kids and grandkids can't get to play with their toy trains !!!!!! |

My uncle always admitted the trains were his... and said he was glad his daughter wasn't interested so he wouldn't have the competition for playtime! LOL I enjoyed this, MM! |

I had an "n" gauge full room set up but my ex husband kept insisting it was for the kids. Good story, but I liked the near misses best. Kethry Here in the midst of my lonely abyss, a single joy I find...your presence in my mind. Unknown |

Thanks everyone above for your lovely comments. I am just slowly easing my way into doing verse, the first attempts since childhood. Promise I will do better as I learn more, but I would rather do the humorous stuff, 'cos thats my style!!!! Luv and Lite to all John Grass won't grow under feet that don't move. |

Hi there MM... When I was a wee tot, my Dad bought 'me' a beautiful train set...(yes, girls like trains, too!!) The only prob was, that I could never play with it, 'cause he was always at the controls!!! Love this one as much as I still love trains!!! ![]() Open the door and let your adventure begin!!! |
