Silence is Free (Challenge by Sven) I was twelve when the circus came to my town, Knowledgeable enough, but able to fall down, Onto my tush, onto the floor, crying no more! That was a simple day in a complex world. At fourteen learning how a simple mobile twirls, Round, and round minus sound, entertainment abound. They saw me as unique, borrowing times keep, Usually just suspended and ready for sleep, In a whirling, world unfurling, minds are hurling. Featherbrained, gentle and fleeting to be heard, Everyone just believing me to be absurd. Silence is free, as this key that unlocks destiny. |

now this I like. . . it's a total departure from the opening line, which is what I was going for. . . you read the first line, and you don't expect this to end like it does. . . great work DC. . . --------------------------------------------------------- To the world, you may only be one person. But to one person, you may be the world. |

Yep, total surprise! I thought the challenge was probably the title you use here, not the circus challenge. The rhythm is great, I can almost hear it to a calliope. The thought of silence is intriguing...are you an 'unhearing' person, or is this about one who is? When I saw your title I was thinking it would be fun to write one about "Silence is Free" unless you live next door to my neighbor's dogs. Of course, your poem wasn't really about that at all, just wanted you to know why I was so surprised. I'll have to check out his challenge. Whether on the shoal or on the shore, |
