The Shores of Alone

0 posted 2002-07-12 08:58 PM

In high school I would write my heart
and of those who ripped it apart
I was a sad and thoughtful girl
unsure of my place in this word.

I wrote and wrote but no one cared
in truth I was afraid to share
then once I did, and was put down
it took me years to come around.

I wrote alone, I wrote of love
none would know what I was made of
pages lay crumpled in my room
I wrote to rise above my gloom.

Twas many years that this went on
until the coming of my dawn
a friend sent me a poem from here
I read and read, cried many tears.

One day I dared to post my own
and it was then that I came home
with open arms you welcomed me
I bared my soul for all to see.

It's been two years, I'll never go
a monster you have made, you know.

Love you all

smiling at you from over here--I used to burn everything I wrote, so I understand the emily dickinson urge to hide everything away (I just tend to be extreme--just a LITTLE )

I'm so glad I found this place and all of my wonderful sisters here...Hugs, Miss Sandra.

Sandra, as I read this, it reminded me of me. I did alot of writeing when I was in high school too. And, I was put down alot. I am glad you came to passions, or I never would have met you.

Sandra,
Half of my high school experience was like yours. My writing then was not poetry. And barely passes for that now. But I can relate. Being a "fraidy cat" I gotta say you're my favorite monster. Nice write.

Show you care to those you love...today.

If YOU are a monster, then the rest of us are the toe jam between Godzilla's toes. LOL

No, you are not a monster, but instead an angel of gift and your gift of poetry has grown much since you came here and we have grown from knowing you.

A monster you are not my dear
I'm so glad I can read you here
When I feel down, of sad, you know
I always know where I can go
To ease my pain, to get a LOL
Thank you for being one of all

Nice one Sandra,
It is suprising how much talent is hidden away until chance finds and releases it.
God Bless You, and keep you safe and happy.

Sandra,
it's so good to share your heart. You may be a star but there's no mon in it. Loved the poem and all your work.

There is an underlying thread that I have seen in poets, especially, and sometimes artists in general...they don't fit in the "real world..." but they fit uncommonly well in the land of the muse...for they not only see, and hear, but they translate, by color, or word, as well...we may not be right, but we are always trying...

Hello Sandra

Such a wonderful insight as to how you came here.  I feel honoured to call you a friend and always look forward to reading your work.
