Memories Strange commodities odd entities are they not? We seek the joy of the fleeting moments living them as fully as we can reaching for our desires clamoring for experiences that we may stuff our tokens tangible or non into our mind’s scrapbooks or the leaves of heavy papered tomes we store them snapshots in color or black and white jumbled into recesses, cabinets, in order that we might retrieve them, relive them in some future moment somehow to prove to ourselves that our life really happened that we really existed that a record is safe somewhere that we were here or there or anywhere for one day when our memories cease how will anyone know what we spent or if we spent our seconds at all whether we own a faith or not what of our memories when they stop? ©July 7, 2002 Solomon cried: All is vanity. Virginia, how true your words are! my feeble attempts at writing poetry are just my way to hold on to fading-fast memories... |
