Falling through the Cracks There he lies on sheets of dust and ashes in the library of unremembered passion, recorded filed and left himself alone. At two, no toys, but a bed stained by nights of wet, fear and dark’s fame. Who cared that cobwebs, ants and scary things under the bed came but one small boy? At five he learned of scissors, books and paste. At five he tasted hope then lost it to the haste of papers left to float and no one taking note of one small boy. At fifteen, you ask why this boy is bad this boy is mean, with all the opportunities offered and in this society gladly proffered? He has learned since he was two that no one cares that no ones true, and to this day his only hope is a contact who will sell him dope. Why, at that bright side of twenty, those great times of good and plenty you find a child who grew crooked instead of true remember, he was recorded filed and left himself alone. ________ 12-99 |

When WE is only ME and ME is never WE, It simply comes to BE that the growth is but a crooked TREE..... I understand this too very well.. Thank You Martie for a very wise write... |

To think that all it would have taken is ONE person at a stage early in this child's life and the story would have been one of happiness instead. Something for all of us to take note of and decide if we are going to make a difference or just watch another go to the wayside. Beautifully stated and of course your words always kick in that extra little bit of impact. |

Martie, your understanding of the human mind is always impressive. That is exactly the way it works, unfortunately. If parents only understood better how profound their actions affect the child's mind.....and that the child never forgets. Brilliant writing.... |

This is truly amazing and truly the truth, Martie... We have such a profound influence on the attitudes of our children, but too many parents never realize this. No one is inherently bad or evil....its all in the way we have been shaped. I loved the poem. ~ hugs for understanding Lyra |

Without that first unconditional love, it's hard to believe in anything...let alone yourself. Really liked this, Martie. Forgetting all I'm lacking |

(big hugggssssss) Oh Martie, this is so very sad, sweet friend, I can relate to this boy so well because I grew up as a boy depressed every day and had nightmares and was abused, and I feel with all my heart that the pain helped me become sensitive and the boy I'm proud to be today because now I understand compassion for others and love and without it I may always be a selfish person! (sigh) My heart goes out to all children who face these tears, sweet friend, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Martie, thank you for sharing! May love and light always shine upon you! Love, Noah Eaton "Underneath your clothes there's an endless story..." |
