In lieu of the celebration of Independence Day, this goes out to all of our armed service members. Thank you for your sacrifices. It is because of them that we are free. They travel across the seas To die on foreign lands Many miles from their homes Slain by stranger's hands They're spit on, they're shot at They're pushed to the ground but one thing's for sure They'll NEVER back down They don't ask for medals Your praise they don't need All they want is for their home To remain always free So before you take rest Bend down on a knee And give thanks for our soldiers Our Protectors of Peace CM2 (SCW) USN A bird never flies so high that it can't hit the ground [This message has been edited by Krishankins (07-04-2002 04:38 AM).] |

Thank you. My daughter was in the Air Force and while she was in I learned a great deal about the sacrifices military personnel have to make - and so few people recognize that. This is a wonderful poem, sir. Thanks again for saying what we all should say every day. |
