Maple Leaf Heart

I am born of Canada...the amazing
of average height and fair features
of common name and average status,
but, I am priceless, I am love,
I am oasis incarnate,
standing tall, tear in eye, on guard for thee
that this is my home, my destiny.

I am peace,
I am passion,
I am multi-cultural dreams,
I am a wonder of the world
waving of red and white glory.
I am humble pride of power and freedom,
I am all things beautiful
of the Lord's hand blooming across this land.
I am simple, complex, I am elegant and phenomenal
because I am Canadian!

And when heaven awaits
as I take my final breath,
I will gently decline my wings
to keep my maple leaf shaped heart
and I know that God will smile and understand.

Well you covered it for me too in this wonderfully patriotic poem Melissa, all that is left is tonight's fireworks, and a hotdog! And I wave this proudly!
