The Kind Act Father let the drink take him down; clung to his family with desperate fingers, struggling hard until that final gasp. Caught in the unruly wake, the family swings its oars wildly, looking to point blame for this kind act. The Son stays dry on a spit of sand, and relives his anger at Father, of missed baseball games and camping trips; Mother wades in deep, baptized in the death of excommunication, now that the church will grant asylum; the Daughter stands on a pier at a safe distance, and notices with detachment how dark the clouds are, and how she always looks North for answers. © 2002 CM Bailey [This message has been edited by Corinne (06-11-2002 09:28 PM).] |

this is a sad but very vivid write....Is this the stream of drunkenness? or of sacrifice? Much pondering from this write... Thanx Corinne.. |

Extremely thought provoking, Corinne... but I think that this type of detachment is probably far more common than I would really like to believe... Excellent work. ~ thought provoking hugs Lyra |

Corinne A vivid and heart wrenching look at a family torn, or saved (?). I suppose only time gives the answer. [This message has been edited by Martie (06-11-2002 09:25 PM).] |

Thanks Martie, Chipmunk, Magnus and Dark Stranger. Kind of an obtuse writing, huh? Death has way of making things hard to explain...And having to make that decision for someone... Thanks for reading and commenting. Core |

again, I'd like to think of this as being more acute than obtuse. . . quote: I've always wondered why. . . maybe I'll get an answer someday Cor. . . great work. . . --------------------------------------------------------- To the world, you may only be one person. Thanks, Sven, you are a keen observer! Maybe it's because we aren't supposed to know. The scariest part of my experience in this was the feeling I had on that pier. I know I won't be able to capture it, but I sure won't ever forget it. thank you. cor |

(big hugggsssssss) Oh Corinne, this is so very heartbreaking, sweet friend, my heart cries out to this family and it hurts me to see if anyone can reach out to the daughter and give her a safe home and help her follow her lodestar! (sad sigh) This is wonderful, sweet friend, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Corinne, thank you for sharing! May love and light always shine upon you!
