Do not deny the poet
the rise of golden sun
or the beauty of the eve
when the night is done.

Do not deny the poet
the colors of the sky
or the gift of dreams
as angels fly on high.

Do not deny the poet
the words used as a gift
of spreading bits of cheer
to give sorrowed souls a lift.

Do not deny the poet
the mountains and the plains
the wonderous sights of nature
and the gentle sounds of rain.

Do not deny the poet
let the words never be apart
for there is no greater gift
than what is written ~ from the heart
