Who's up for writing a 'Rictameter' about any aspect of dreams or dreaming; etc.?! A humble sample of the form: I dream, my mind adrift (with all things wild and fair) as sea winds sweeping silent slopes, paint sunset softly on the hills of time where love and youth have wandered far. Mid memory-meadows murmuring mists I dream! Please post your 'Rictameter' in open forum # 40 and provide the link here! Enjoy! |

Just hoping this helps those wondering about the structure of the Rictameter~ ~*~ ~Ricky Oh so tricky Done in proper format Syllable count is where it's at Begin with two, then four, six, eight and ten Let it flow backwards once again Until you wind back down Where you began Ricky~ ~*~ Good challenge my friend~ *Huglets* ~*Marge*~ ~*The sound of a kiss is not as strong as that of a cannon, but it's echo endures much longer*~ |

Although the two (alleged) 'poetry form and analysis' websites I consulted showed several (alleged) 'award winning' Rictameters beginning with first lines like: "I thought" and "Love sings", etc.; I have been told the beginning and ending lines have to be 1 word (2 syllables); ergo, perhaps this should have been: Dreaming! [Rictameter] Dreaming, my mind adrift (with all things wild and fair) as sea winds sweeping silent slopes, paint sunset softly on the hills of time where love and youth have wandered far mid memory-meadows murmuring mists, Dreaming |

Bruce~ The challenge is an excellent one ... the structure is considered to be a 'deviation' from the strict format when two WORDS, instead of two SYLLABLES are used to start and end the Rictameter ...~ Glad to see you come in and add the information ... many of us often inspired to try something new by participating in the challenges presented~ The Rictameter format is, to me, one of the loveliest out there ...~ They flow easily for me ... reckon it's just cause I like them so~ *HUGLETS* ~*Marge*~ ~*The sound of a kiss is not as strong as that of a cannon, but it's echo endures much longer*~ |
