I think my problem is that I have been writing to much reality lately. I have a possition on the school newsletter and with my church sunday school. Writing about the families in our school and writing for my grade 8 sunday school class's graduation service. I seem to have come to a brick wall with my poetry muse....lol Marilyn. |

I occasionally find that I have writer's block, yet it is often that I sense I've delved to deeply into the subjects I'm fond of. If this is the case for you, try either learning more about other things to write about, or try and learn more about what you are already good at, as no one person holds the complete knowledge of any subject. |

Try watching the news, or a movie, or something of that sort, and write for that situation. I use this technique with my music. If I get stuck, I watch a TV show, or a movie, and write a few songs to score the show. Day after day I'm more confused, |

Thanks for the ideas everyone. The idea of writing a score for a movie is very interetsing...I'll have to try that. Marilyn |

I've found that the problem usually isn't caused by writing too much...but rather by doing too little that's new. Think of yourself revisiting the last place you took pictures. If you went there today, how many would you take, compared to the last visit? And tomorrow? And the day after? It's the same with writing -- doing new things, meeting new people, new anything, cause you to see things differently, and the new views arrest your attention...which for us is expressed as poetry. Sounds like you do a lot of things, but how many of them are new enough to fascinate you? None, I bet. ~~(¸¸¸¸ºº> ~~(¸¸¸¸ºº> ~~(¸¸ ¸¸ºº> ~~~(¸¸ER¸¸ºº> |

I have been known to go to a bookstore, art gallery, or something of that like, and gain inspiration from the titles of the books or pieces of art, or from the art itself. I hope that this helps. Thank you. Peace is the only battle worth waging. |
