Jeremiad jer-i-my'ad, n (From Jeremiah, reputed author of the Book of Lamentations)

A lamentation or prolonged complaint; an angry or cautionary harangue. Poor Jeremiah! He writes one complaining letter to God, whines about the state of the world, gets it published in the most popular book of all time, and his name is forever attached to the concept of complaining and lamenting one's fate.

I wrote one--and I am curious to see what others would have to say to "god" if given the opportunity.

It's okay. I prefer a comedian to say, a DENTIST... okay, okay, so if you don't like THAT idea as is, try one from the point of view of some ELSE. Historical, OR Fictional.

but....but... I am fictional!!

seriously... I for one don't do well with long poems, my attention span must be too short...or is it I don't have enough words.. go figure. It is an interesting challenge..and I am sure the results will be illuminating to read. This one however, I think I'll have to pass on. I get all tripped up when talking about or to "god"

I started writing something, Sen,
but it was dredging up feelings
I'd rather let stay submerged.

Dude, I failed a challenge!

Excerpt:
"You sculpted my heart to explode.
You sculpted my limbs out of too much bone.
You left my sight to finger's hold."

Gads...I don't think I can succumb to this one, Serene One...unless I were to give one word, and one word only, not generally used by me but COULD have been used by me on ONE day in my most recent history of which is now in the past and will remain there BUT if it could have been one word and if I SHOULD have used it, it would have been

"Pah!"

There.

I guess I can't blame you guys...it IS rather personal and not exactly a barrel of laughs. sigh...I just thought it would be pretty interesting. And actually, smiling, the fact that so many are just saying NO WAY is pretty interesting in itself.

Don't my poems already yell at everyone, god included?

Oh wait, no. That was my OLD stuff.

(chuckling) I could write this I believe... but I made a deal with god...I'd quit writing about him if he would not hold all the things I've said in the past against me.

Well, at least I'd quit publicly saying the things that can be misconstrued as being overly critical of his handling a project plan....and that I wouldn't say anything (too loud) about his speach writers. In return, he agreed not to have mme tossed into hates the second I stood before him but would instead allow me the benefit of the doubt as to motive and let me have one last glass of water before he did...

I'll talk to my muse about it, and see if it wants to cooperate.

My muse is busy with another challenge.  But I might have a backup muse somewhere that could be willing.

A very interesting challenge, Karen. It gave me a headache trying to sort through my long list of whinings.
