I jotted these down while listening to my son and daughter converse with their father during a recent short road trip:

"disturbing my warp"

"sub-text messages in a pounding head vein"

"lame-sided tedium"

"insubordinate eyes" (chuckle this was one of those stop looking at me arguments, and when my daughter asked why, my son answered because you have--and thus the quote.)

"born a has-been"

"rubber trouble"

"just enough gristle to breed maggots" (a commentary on a certain girl singer)

"highway rhythms are just like ZEN"

"mental albatross"

"even the sun is glad for the night"

"a chocolate chip cookie tree"

"Understanding--102"

"a pointless #2 lead pencil"

"lockers without locks"

"one droopy sock sucks"

"half-baked rolls in sad red sauce"

"A's on an idiot's curve"

"even safety razors bite"

"they'll beat you up, for being smart"

and last but not least?

"a voice like white noise, cranked to nine

um...have fun, and let's leave the psychology to the ones I will pay the big money to later, eh?

First I have to get past the giggling...these are priceless...and a font of inspire...I particularly liked the reference to the girl singer, whom shall remain nameless...

I shall return...

LOL!  These are great!
It's amazing what you hear when you just
sit back and really listen, isn't it?
If my muse can't do something with at least
ONE of these, then it is truly dead!
Still smiling and laughing here.
Thanks for sharing this little tidbits.

highway rhythms are just like ZEN

Long days and hot sun
can make even thoughts of Iambe
waver like a mirage
just over the horizon
that fools you into spending
the last three dollars you have
trying to get a drink

I'd been gone for about two weeks
now headed down the west Texas road
where highway rhythms are just like ZEN
I think I got lost inside the sound
of hearing her voice in my mind
and holding her body next to me.

It would be another night
before I pulled into the yard
hoping she was out there
bent over in her overalls
as she worked on someones newest old truck
so that I could come down off the road
before she spoke

Good thing I had a credit card
cause it was going to take more
than one drink tonight
just to wipe the dust of her
out of my eyes

Ron,
I loved the road warriorlessness
of this.

Post it in open or sanctuary.

Pwease?

Mike
