Ok. . . this one's just a little different. . . and it's a challenge for me. . . I'm working on a series of poems about the Goddess. . . and this just came to me. . . If you were a Goddess, which one would you be? Why? How does the Goddess that you choose reflect your life?? It can be any Goddess from any tradition. . . it doesn't necessarily have to be Greek or Roman or Celtic. . . take your pick!!!  Tell me here, or send me an e-mail. . . I'll include it in a smaller group of poems that will make up a part of the "Goddess Series" that I'm working on right now called "Voices of the Goddess". . . I don't know a lot about it so I did some research and this is the one I like. Sarasvati - White skinned Goddess of poetry, music, science and learning as well as all creative arts. Inventor of the Sanscrit language. She wears a crescent moon on her brow and rides a swan or a peacock, or is seated on a lotus. The Flowing One. Inventor of all the arts of civilization: music, letters, mathematics, calendars, magic, the Vedas and all other branches of learning. She originated in the Ocean. Great culinary Goddess, She invented Soma, or Amrita (drink of bliss). Independent of nature. Goddess of sensual love, creativity, beauty, art and music. |

I'd be Athena, the Goddess of War and Wisdom. She sprang, fully grown, from Zeus' brow. Athena is also one of 3 virgin Goddesses. |

I'm going to go down the very common route of goddesses... I would be either Venus or Aphrodite - many say they are one in the same person, only from different cultures; they are the most appealing to what I would want to be, and of course, the most appealing to many men  I would love to be fantasy-like, adored by men and hailed by the heavens. In my real life, I'm very shy, humble and ordinary so to speak, but Venus and Aphrodite are exotic. Venus - is the Roman goddess of beauty and love. She was originally a Goddess of Spring and flowers and vines. She is also known as Venus Genetrix, mother of the Roman people through her son, Aeneas (who is also referred to as Cupid - the messenger of love and romance). Aphrodite is perhaps more fascinating, there is also more literature in regards to her legend. Aphrodite is the Greek goddess of love, beauty and sexual rapture. According to Hesiod, she was born when Uranus (the father of the Gods) was castrated by his son Cronus. Cronus threw the severed genitals into the ocean which began to churn and foam about them. From the aphros ("sea foam") arose Aphrodite, and the sea carried her to either Cyprus or Cythera. Hence, she is often referred to as Kypris and Cytherea. Homer calls her a daughter of Zeus and Dione. After her birth, Zeus was afraid that the gods would fight over her hand in marriage because of her amazing beauty, so he married her off to the smith God Hephaestus - the steadiest of Gods. He could hardly believe his good luck and used all his skills to make the most lavish jewels to adorn her. He made her a girdle of gold and wove magic into the girdle. Obviously, this was not a wise gift to her, because when she wore the magic girdle and jewels, no one could resist her on top of her already irresistable beauty. Aphrodite loved and was loved by many gods and mortals. Among her mortal lovers, the most famous was Adonis. Some of her sons are Eros (God of love), Antheros, Hymenaios and Aeneas. *I hope that I haven't rambled, Sven*  If you need music, or graphics for this particular goddess, I will gladly help out! Juno (mythology), in Roman mythology, queen of the gods, the wife and sister of the god Jupiter. ~(This is weird) She was the protector of women and was worshiped under several names. As Juno Pronuba she presided over marriage; as Juno Lucina she aided women in childbirth; and as Juno Regina (Hint..Hint) she was the special counselor and protector of the Roman state. Her special festival, the Matronalia, was celebrated on March 1. Juno is the Latin counterpart of the Greek queen of the gods, Hera. Some authorities believe that the month of June was named after Juno. And she has a temper! But she appeals to me for her strong femininity and protection of women and children balanced with the welfare of a society. Well...she's a little too large for me...LOL..but I like her! I've always been teased for my name (Regina) means Queen... But I'm no queen except in my castle Thanks for letting me pretend a while.Sincerely, Regina |

This is such a wonderful idea. Here is my input. I know the description is short but it was enough to intrigue me. Pasipha - She Who Shines for All. Cretan Moon Goddess I'm not sure why, but this one just felt right. Sometimes I feel like I carry everyone's weight on my shoulder and in a sense shine for everyone.
