I am a romantic..so I sometimes look at poem titles that fit my mood to get ideas..like Holding Endlessly I used "to hold on end" in my latest poem..but you could take a phrase that hits you for instance Chambered Feelings (can have many meanings) from my new sonnet would make a good idea, although it's fantasy for me... but fantasy is better than nothing and today at least it's sweet and not of depressive thoughts as I have had in the last two days... *s, so do that sometime. Just run through titles (I don't do that here, I look on other sites. Or if I am reading poems in books, it's the titles that grab me, not even the poems, and then they inspire me, I make my changes to mean something to me and and make a poem out of it...never using that as a title though, only as the inspiring idea to start me off... I hope I made this understandable, I don't take anyone's poem or words. Just the inspiration I derive from it and if I use something more complete of someone's for example a phrase, I always give credit where due. Hope this helps... ~Wynter |

Why not take the titles from a forum you don't normally post in, such as Teen? Or find an ad in the paper or a magazine and use a phrase/line from one of them. I always recommend the book "Creating Poetry" by John Drury. It's great for getting ideas on writing poetry and has 'assignments' at the end of each chapter that you can use to kickstart your writing. ![]() |

Hi Sea, Poet deVine is so right about that book, I have been living in it of late, having the same problem as you though, can't seem to find anything, this might sound a little silly but I have been looking for new words to use in my poetry and it seems to open a lot of doors to subject matter, hope maybe I have helped a little.
