I was looking for ideas and I noticed Sunshine's request for a new challenge and Marge's response and found it an interesting subject. Having recently moved to North Georgia, I was intrigued and saddened by the history of the Trail of Tears. My poem is about the Cherokee rose, which is now the state flower. Along the thousand -mile trail, of death and misery, growing wild and prospering, the rose of Cherokee. Its petals white and innocent, created from the tears of mothers, torn and suffering to calm their anguished fears The center gold, reminds us of four thousand people lost, traded for the precious metal sought at any cost. On each stem are seven leaves, for every Cherokee clan raided, and then sent away by those who raped their land. An answer to a fervent prayer, the ground began to swell, and soon there was a lovely rose for every tear that fell. And now it dances in the breeze, surviving all these years, to honor those who died beside North Georgia’s "Trail Of Tears". |

Debbie this is good, but you should talk to a moderator about getting it moved to a forum where people will read it. Kethry "It is the image in the mind that links us to lost treasures; but it is the loss that shapes the image, gathers the flowers weaves the garland."- |

Thanks Kethry, I guess I thought that this was where the challenges are supposed to be posted! How do I have it moved? |

Yep. this is where challenges are posted, but most people post the poems written on a forum where others can read them.At the top of each page there's an underlined list marked Moderator's with two or three names after it. you can double click any of those names and it takes you to their email or you can email Ron. Ask them to move it to a forum of your choice and they should do that. If you don't have any success email me and I'll try to walk you through it. Kethry |

Thanks Kethry, I wondered why I hardly ever see the end result of other challenge poems that people say they are going to post! |

Debbie~ My sweet friend ... this is lovely and has such meaning to me. If you'll visit my web site you will find one that I also wrote entitled Cherokee Rose. I am so familiar with the area you speak of in Georgia. The Trail Of Tears is a subject very near and dear to my heart. Are you still trying to get it moved to perhaps the Open #9 Forum ??? I'll contact moderators who will gladly help you do it. Thank you for this beautiful render of love. ~*Marge*~ ~*The pen of the poet never runs out of ink, as long as we breathe.*~ noles1@totcon.com |
