The Ache of Loving You I picked up the phone today A hundred times, maybe more Can’t recall through the ache Of loving you evermore Time plays heavily upon my mind Drifting memories across the miles Reminiscing sweet recollections of rhyme And of days filled with honeycomb smiles Trepidation silently ebbs over this misplaced soul But can’t quite quench the fire of such a sweet love lost As anxiety meanders through the threads of my reason Seeding hesitation on a friendship that’s worth any cost Required now to cast adrift and question obscurity Look past self doubt and rise above the pain To ascend the dream and simply trust that you know As I quietly hold a tear, and pick up the phone again We are all just prisoners here of our own device ~ Hotel California, The Eagles |

I am touched by your sense of knowing your feelings so clearly and willingness to persue your dream at all cost. I enjoyed this lovely poem so much! Ellie A friend hears the song in my heart, and sings it to me when my memory fails. |

Eddie your faithful heart and sincerety has always touched me...this write does that as well. I know this ache well my friend..the traces left behind leave us a connection that a heart wont let time erase. Some things never leave us...and sometimes we learn to hold on while letting go. heart-hugs POET sir jm ... and I don't know why ... |

Eddie, sometimes we just can't forget... sometimes the heart won't let us. The ache in this clearly came through. Wonderful closing feeling here, of...hope. ~Hugs~ ~Somewhere in my heart I'm always |

It is a torturous feeling isnt it not being able to be with the one you love..and its so sad when the feeling finally disappears over time..something that was so very special and close to your heart.. ~Victoria |

Eddie darling boy I suppose you think that I’m going to praise you to the skies? Hmmm? …….. Well, of course I am, this is utterly utterly wonderful as YOU very well know. The way you translate feeling into words is gorgeous the tone of the poem as heart achingly sad as those whispered dreams faded can be Absolutely first class writing you are an utterly wonderful writer. Love and warm stuff As always Mushy To give light to them that sit in darkness..... to guide our feet into the way of peace Luke 2:79 |

Ellie ~ It is good to have you stop by, and good that you found enjoyment here, thank you! Janet ~ you well know how I feel about my words being able to touch others, thank you. I know you know the ache well, and as time goes on I guess I understand a little more, its time I wouldn’t trade for the world, but a little less ache occasionally would be ok! Thank you my friend. Nancy ~ I don’t want to forget, the memories I treasure beyond all else. But as said, perhaps just a little less ache. Lauren ~ as you would know Lauren, it is a two edged feeling. I appreciate your stopping bye, take care! Victoria ~ torture is a good description, at times it does indeed feel that way. But you know, I don’t think this love will ever disappear, just filed away in a corner of my heart awaiting release! Donna ~ it is the only way I know, thank you, and take care! Marsha ~ if you keep calling me “darling boy” you an say anything you like…lol Its all about that feeling and I’m glad I was able to get that across, thank you dear poet lady. This reminds me of the time me and my wife were separated and I was thinking about her and really missing her but I didn't want to call because sometimes she wasn't receptive to me but on this particular evening I finally picked up the phone to call and she had called me at that precise moment...so when I picked up the phone she was on the line...that was a fantastic moment but unfortunately in the end it didn't work out...James |
