Poets make the worst lovers for their words will follow you in more strength. So that you will never forget the power of the emotion that flowed within you. In all the directions I turn to They are come back facing you In my haste to forget you I move on My mind slows in the surrounding memories My heart has been encased in stone To defend me from those penetrating eyes Stopping it in more lost time But why must I turn back on my one way street In mirrors that conjure up reflections In fleeting seconds I feel your warmth against me As you cool instantly with words that say so little But your body moment says you still care That I exist away from you So as I am reassured you are okay The Venus trap opens it prey From the black widow fangs Sending me to my prison Of a sentence of not loving you In a dead end of your own making You borrowed money from someone That occasionally claims you For all your friends wanted to be on the receiving end Leaving me with the dust of eyes that rained Inside closed doors I will come back to receive my loan For pennies on the dollar As I will have to remind you In a convenient lapse of memory As you now have less of a reason to see me You friends will now curse me And once again come back to your side Until you need them and have to face me At times I guess my path is blocked by you Coming to remind me How much I do not mean to you And your judgment has sentenced me To a life of not loving you As I walk away with more dust In those lonely eyes Hoping mirrors will not reflect My raining emotions And make you smile In your web trapping me On an island of never ending misery Misery with four letters That does not rain anymore Email me at [email protected] D.Lester Young (04/21/02) Tuscaloosa, AL Copyright © D.Lester Young (White Eagle poetry) http://www.authorsden.com/visit/author.asp?AuthorID=5012 |
