breezes grasp and pull at the tender light green foliage of oaks beginning their life cycle once again after a long cold winter the motion of their dancing branches sends my mind into a memory from long ago Men stand with their arms outstretched intertwining their hands with women in beautiful flowing gowns of every hue, dancing in small delicate circles underneath the soft amber glow of the candlelit ballroom The soft swish of silken dresses against the women's legs undertones the peacefully light sounds strung together in musical chords as the stringed instruments and soft piano key notes play out a beautiful ballroom waltz From across the room I catch the brilliant flash of an embarrassed smile, and as I turn my attention fully towards that face full of laughter, I am entranced by the soft beauty entailed within the eyes looking at me My breath catches as I see a woman that I have never before met, yet as I force my quavering legs to cross the ballroom floor I feel that this is someone with whom I must and was forever meant to be with As I moved closer, her gaze never strayed from mine as I asked her for a dance, and when she placed her hand in mine, it seemed that nothing before in my life had seemed as fitting as she here with me as we began our waltz The room twirled around me as we danced holding each other close as the soft music floated around us, and we never even spoke until the music subsided and I stood enraptured by the beauty before my eyes I cannot describe fully what passed between us as the night progressed, as I slowly realized that fate had placed this woman before me and this moment was the pinnacle, the center around which the rest of my life would revolve As the sun passed between the tree leaves, I came back from my reflections to look at my wife as the cool breezes blew at her curly hair with the warming sunlight reflecting auburn gracing her face with a soft amber glow The simple pleasure I take in loving my wife is more precious than any achievement that I could have ever hoped to attain, and that it was me whom she chose to share her life, amazes me every day of our blessed life |
