I cranked Roxie over And her 8 cylinders fired With the usual click of tappets That have seen too many miles And now protest with a voice like Your fingernails tapping on the slate topped table When you are waiting for me And I am late again because I got lost In some thought or task forgetting to look at clock Or leave on time. She and I rolled out the drive Making the usual morning trek with the others Encased in steel beside us or passing Coffee cup in hand, Eyes ahead and dead Gripping wheels with resolve it is Friday Last time this week we in mass do the pilgrimage To shrines of concrete, steel, and greed Her song on the tar strips dances me in my seat Keeping time to passing miles in shake rattle and roll rhythms That remind me luxury is not her forte Nor is her appetite for morning fuel But she is the back road queen that transports me To dear eyed scenics fanned with silent owl feathers That re-connect me with memories No one writes about them much anymore But Roxie deserved at least mention Before she and I both become extinct Like the dinosaurs we are [This message has been edited by Cpat Hair (04-19-2002 11:26 AM).] |

Ron When you name it, you give it heart. Sometimes this kind of friendship hurts too, as time changes all things. Enjoyed this ride with you! |

But she is the back road queen that transports me To dear eyed scenics fanned with silent owl feathers That re-connect me with memories ============================ and you sir, just flooded me with my own memories of my grandpas truck and summers on the farm...so I thank you for that... the imagery in this is so cool...as is the way your words speak of the respect for this bond of man and machine. Excellent sharing poet sir. |

Thank you for introducing Roxie...no good man who owns a forever truck goes without naming her, and when he incorporates her into his thoughts, he is that much more a romantic... |

Keeping time to passing miles in shake rattle and roll rhythms" I love that! You could write about any topic under the moon and it would come out deep and soulful. Now you've got me itching for a road trip! *hugs* ~Krista Your beautiful words & creativity allow me to connect with the same in myself. |

(smiles) Oh Ron, this is soooooo wonderful, this too reminded me of my grandparents and how my grandpa named his tractor after his mother! (big hugggssssss) I too just love how names and bondages come about with such simple things, sweet friend, this is wonderful, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Ron, thank you for sharing! May love and light always shine upon you! Love, Noah Eaton |
