Friendship's Voice There was a time, I had no voice Only my whispers could be heard. A long year that was, for some a break From me, not even a single word. Sad I was, though strange it be Drs., it took too many you see... And finally, speech therapy. My voice, the weakest part of me. Friendships come and friendships go I've learned as I age, I will offer you this Each has a way, their meanings their own A friend can be giving or just needing a kiss. Continued on, I counting the days No one could help me out of this phase Pianoed my highs to find my lows A new voice to earn, its learning was slow. One in a million, a friend means to me One who can be there when needed or not Disappointments occurred when they only would need Other than that, I was often forgot. This has a moral or ending to tell Just bear with me for a little bit more. I can be wordy, have made up for the loss That "one in a million", is now at least four. I held off on friendships, the real ones I mean, And wanted no more of the selfishness scene. I didn't want used, just when needed as friend I wanted to know they were there once again For joining in tennis, or walks in the park Swimming and shopping, the fun things to do, Talking when needed, on shoulder to lean I would also be there, if needed by you. As my new voice "arrived", I released all the stress The Drs. addressed the definition of Friendships that come in all sizes and shapes Explaining that some don't know friendships love. To them just being there, is all that they need. They may not be able to offer you more. You are their good friend and they hope they are yours So never forget to leave open that door.... Accept what is given, don't lose friendship's voice. I've worded this so, you can understand "friend" It's all about giving, not what is returned My friendship is yours and will never end. M I once only wanted the one in a million Almost gave up because I felt used But in my healing, to regain my voice Advice was forthcoming, to undo my confused. * In the past, I lost my voice for over a year, needing speech therapy to have it returned to me taking 3 months of intense voice training. In healing, the Dr and I discussed many things, even though I could only whisper... about "friendhips" and how I was disappointed in one in particular and left me deciding to make no more new ones. I didn't want to be known as the friend who would babysit, be called for emergencies but forgotten for all the fun things or even just to sit and chat for a moment. I didn't need anyone to help me back then... I was lucky I never "needed" as my other friends did, I only "wanted" companionship... which others could not always offer. I was told when giving my definition of friendship to the DR that I was a "one in a million friend" and wanted the same for myself. He said if I turned down new ones, I may miss the one in a million I am looking for. Shortly after, my voice returned. And I have learned that there are many meanings of friendship and none should ever be discounted. I have lost my voice in the past know what that is like, very well thank you for sharing this with us to know there's a heaven past hell... very good Maureen...how courageous it is to tell of past experiences and not only in poetic form, but to follow up with a short explanation afterwards, a "where the inspire came from" story.... be well my friend... |

Hi Karilea, thanks...I have been busy getting over this cough but I was thinking how I have gained a few new friends from the internet and in real from it and how I know by taking the chance, I have those who I will be in touch with for the rest of my life...*s and I just wanted to let others know that friendships come in different definitions and that just because it's not yours doesn't mean they don't think of you as their good friend in the only way they may know...even if they only call when they need you for help. |

A strong voice from a cautious heart. Its great to hear the warmth of your smiles instead of guessing what one would be like. It wears well on you. *s |

Very well said Maureen, I know where you are coming from with this one all to well. Voices are not needed when the frienship is felt in the heart. Hugs. Be well, be safe. Maureen....i was a bit choked up by this. Must have read it 4 times. The first and second parts, two distinct poems in their own right, have so many wise truisms in them. It truly is an honor to be a friend of yours. I have learned so much from you, all your assistance you have offered in the past. Just my way of saying: M, thank you for everything. You are a sweet fun friend to many people. That is a wealth of good fortune that makes you the envy of millionaires! you know something? you were my FIRST friend on the Net. I couldnt be happier knowing you! jeff |

Hello Maureen Your words spoke volumes and were very moving. I could almost hear the strength in your new voice and I wish you well. Please know that the welcome mat is always outside my door of friendship and you are welcome anytime. Take care......Sue Suetang |
