Why is it that I love you so
when history repeats itself?
I should have left the feel behind
and placed your look upon my shelf.

You broke down my defenses,
left me weak where once was strong.
What power have you over me?
For you, why must I long?

What is it that has conquered me
yet hold in, I am not?
Inside out and up and down,
I'm tied and bound and feel forgot.

Words I wish to leave me now,
please let me rest in empty mind.
I press myself 'gainst tears of whet
for want, but never is my find.

You touched me where no one could reach.
my struggle leading back towards you.
Each time I pause to rationalize
my thoughts stay lined up feeling hues

of shades of gray and black and white.
Never does the color come
to bleach away the stains of loss
and lighten me, to free this numb.

Why is it that I feel this love
when in return, it will not send
to coat me warm with smiles of share?
Where is that pot, my rainbow's end?

Why, I ask so many times,
but answers never come my way...
So still I am in heart with yours,
waiting for my sometime day.

overflowing the edges of

there are some fantastic lines here and some that confuse the heck out of me...and I think that fits with the theme of this piece, the "Why" the profusion of confusion in the feelings you describe.

Whether on the shoal or on the shore,

Why can we not forget them, when they hvae so blatantly let us go? I can't answer, but it sure does hurt. And you wrote this beautifully.

I totally feel you right now. I wish i understood why this stuff happens but i can't. I i wish i could say it gets better but i can't. I do hope you can deal where i haven't been able.
