I know, buddy.  I miss her, too.  It’s too quiet.  It’s too still..
You know this isn’t how I wanted things to end up, don’t you?
You saw me try…over and over
and over
again.

You saw
more than anyone.

And I’m so sorry for that.
I’m so sorry that this senseless drama
played out in front of you
as you cowered in the corner
shaking, bracing
against our screams.

You have no idea
how sorry I am.

Funny, how angry words
robbed you, robbed me
robbed us
of years.

Not funny.

If I could change this
if I could make it
good
for you, for me, for her
I would.

I can’t.

You saw me try, over and over
and over
again.

Please buddy, don’t look at me so sad.
I’ll love you a bit more.
You can lick my face when I come home.
And I’ll tell you how much I missed you.
I’ll call you on the answering machine from work.
I’ll make you cheese sandwiches at midnight.

We’re going to be okay, okay?

*sigh*
You know..I feel the same towards my fish right now..silly thing, eh? A fish..and I feel guilty because someone else as well as I used to delight in him so much and now I feel as if I'm depriving them both..*sigh again*

This makes me sad because I understand it on the very deep and painful level it is on...at leat I believe so.

How grave is my condition, for I cannot find the words to say, I need you so.

Duncan...hurt in print..

that is what this is - and the deflective technique is great...

for what you don't say outright, you say a lot by going around the corners of words...

Duncan
I really like the originality of this!
I visualized/heard the lonely conversation with man's best friend.
Good write!

PS  Can I come over for a cheese sandwich too??

Really enjoyed your sad conversation with your pooch. I to believe they can sense more than we give them credit for.  Good one. Thanks

I have lots of talks with my cats, along these lines. Every once in a while, someone even acts interested.
Take care

It is interesting how our pets catch our
moods so easily...You can see it in their
eyes and body language...

I think they understand when we are having
one of those days...

A sad but touching write...thanx Duncan...

This is painful excellence, Duncan... Cats supposedly hate to be wet... but there have been times I don't know what I would have done without their concern and willingness to absorb tears... even when my talkin' was more wailin' than words. *S*
