A widened brim to shade the burn Sand pale weave a head to turn Seashell beads in kindred shine To shade in flight these dreams of mine A classic pose in disbelief Simple charms in bright relief Set higher up to see the sea To shade the sun that covers me Accessory in single use Sandstone weave in turn footloose Seashell frolic all about To shade myself while I am out Copyright Kkh 6/7/02 |

Kathy..... Seems as though someone had a day at the beach...Funny, here I am within 40 minutes of the beach...and so seldom I ever go... Straw hat? May I borrow it...keep the sun off of my bald spot...which is widening by the year...to my chagrin.. Enjoyed the poem...nice and light... Thank You! |

Straw hats are so awesome, aren't they? You captured the spirit of them so well |

This is so warm and sunny! It makes me so anxious for my vacation at the beach next week. I loved it! |

Let me borrow this, girl - I've another day of river-festivaling to accomplish and I'm not wanting to go without - but you can bring two, and join me! |

I would never have thought to write about a hat but you made this work very well. I felt quite nostalgic for the beach at Brighton. Thank you. |

Very well done, Kathleen... How wonderful that you could take a trivial thing like a straw hat and weave a beautiful poem out of it...with such excellent imagery too! ~ shaded hugs Lyra |

I agree with Madame C., above! The imagery is wonderful here This so reminds me of a friend of mine, with whom I recently attended a huge outdoor concert. She has flaming red hair, and wore the cutest straw hat with seashell beads round the brim. It looked adorable on her and I'm jealous as hats look ridiculous on me I shall send her an ecard of your poem and I know she will love it! ...and her crown was formed by the ice in her eyes |
