The Baby in the Corner

There’s a baby in the corner
making noises with her mouth
the sound is babble gabble
and I know what it’s about

Sometimes with just and upward turn
it takes me to a smile
then it slides back down the scale
and is quiet for awhile

Her twinkle is in toes and eyes
for flat she cannot stand
take hold her tiny little mitts
and she comes up straight and grand

I know when she is sleepy
for the hand rubs at the eyes
and in her voice the cranky comes
and if ignored she cries

But if I lay her on her back
under ceiling full of stars
and just a peek of light from shade
she sleeps as if in car

A super Wednesday treat for me
in the corner of my heart
now pressed in pattern on my home
her presence is now a part
--------
with thanks to Nan for helping me with the photo

So, is this when I can say I told you so? LOL

Anyone ever tell ya "grandma" looks good on you.
And those cheeks of hers are juicy fruit!!! they just need to be squeezed and kissed

When man is lead to arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations
When mans concern narrows, poetry reminds him the diversity of existence

Funny - We do really have a good idea what their babble gabbling is about, don't we?... This is a very special little one, and you obviously have some special inspiration in her...

I told Janet Marie on Wednesday that I needed a poem...she said that Samantha would give me one.  She was right..she usually is.  Not a perfect poem, for sure...but the subject sure is!  And, the ceiling of stars...was from when my son was a boy...and stuck all the stars and moons up there...that glow in the dark.  Never wanted to take them down or paint over them...never will!!

grandmother....and that is one very beautiful
child you are holding...

And the warmth that she gives you is radiating from your smile too!

I think you forgot one thing - the shiver, does she do the 'shiver' LOL, ours does, and guess what that one means?

Oh your Grammie suits you and to see you rhyme is devine!  she truly is so delicate and her features so feminine, what a cutie patootie Martie.

There is nothing means more to me than
my faith, my family and my friends.

Beautiful picture and poem. Children are a blessing to us all. You're a lucky woman.
May you always be so.
