Between the Lines

I've reached five thousand once or twice
in other names I've often penned.
It's not the number reached that counts
instead it is the words that blend

inspiring me to bleed my thoughts
on pages blue or softened white,
as ink runs freely from my mind
what once was bound, I now can write.

The burden lifts, emotions bared
the stress of life unwinds its weave
loosened now, I'm free to fly
and break the hold of "disbelieve".

I verse to you and rhyme a bit
creating words, combined to share
wondering if I get across
my inner thoughts, my outerwear.

Words have taken on a life
I sing-song rhythms and rhyme for you.
It's not the number that counts for me
but friendships made on poets blue.
