NUMBER ONE DEPRESSION

Theres little substance
in this reality
I seem to be floating through,
leaving metaphors
to be de-coded
in my wake.

No mediocre existence
can satiate my desires
so I'll swim away through
clogged pipelines
trying to find some
way to quell this ache
that seems to be
pushing its way up
my throat straining
to be released
by scream or cry.

Our understated lives
have been disrupted by
hatred and intolerance
and I can't find a relevant
reason to stay here any longer
with thier venomous words
echoing in my head
reminding me of how far
we still have to go,
will always have to go.

It's as if I've stepped back
into a swirling mass of
confusion and dissatisfaction,
walking through a mental plane
that's long been abandoned
and locked up.
Trying to find
the keys to the answers
of the questions everyone's
asking me.

Wondering what happened
to leave such an enormous amount
of people bruised and bleeding
in the streets beside thier homes
crying for someone to take it back,
rewind thier lives and fix thier mistakes.

Such a dismal place
I've found myself in,
hoping that I'm dreaming,
wandering around the past
and not the future,
testing my theories on animals
before humans because
animals cant tell you
how much it hurts.

God, I hope that Im dreaming
but Im afraid Im not
because this landscape
is far more frightening than
any nightmare ever could be.
This utter unhappiness
could only be found in life.

I really enjoyed that passage.  It spoke alot with feeling.

There's a peace inside us all
Let it be your friend
It will help you carry on
In the end
There's a peace inside us all

Welcome. I read this once, and will come back to it again later tonight when I have more time. Testing ideas on the animals befor humans....yes, our pets and the wild ones aren't quite as adept as humans in letting us know they're in pain, unless you are really observant of those little behavioral changes that signal something is amiss.(maybe rotten in Denmark?)
