Your Heart Against My Pain |

I thought that it could never happen that I'd wince to hear you call my name, but your heart has gone frigid, and your mind resolves the same. But love, true love, other than Hallmark your pretense to refrain, other than devotion to your hidden stains, other than spilled words and false gains, has called your name again, in vain as you shield your heart against my pain. The standards in your morals book where you quote your rules of blame, you say have made you what you are to date as you climb your walls of praise. Oh but love, true love other than the prenup that you staged, other than the treasures in your cage, other than deception you engage, has called your name again, in vain as you shield your heart against my pain. High up above love's wilderness like a vulture searching for it's prey you cruised above my injured heart, til you swooped my spirit away. When love, true love other than your distance from soul's gate other than your filter for life's grace, other than your patsy for your taste, has called your name again, in vain, as you shield your heart against my pain. I leave you fat and mitigating your own conscience to your claims I'll wander lost through this abyss as I journey from your halls of pain, But love, true love other than your fancy for disdain other than your avarice mind inflamed other than your footstool on my veins has called your name again, in vain as you shield your heart against my pain! I'll find no bandage nor any cure beneath the sun or silvery moon so I'll lie upon the shores of hope once more and pray the tides of love will reach me soon. The role of poetry is to utter the un-utterable; to open up spaces of consciousness and resistance; to language oppressions; to re-language historie [This message has been edited by ethome (05-31-2002 11:04 AM).] |

ethome, sounds as if you are waiting for the tide, you know what they say time and tide wait for no man so why wait for them. I loved the rhythm of this. Keth Here in the midst of my lonely abyss, a single joy I find...your presence in my mind. Unknown |

(big hugggssssssss) Oh Eric, this is so very sad, I believe that in love no one should ever shield ones heart from anothers pleas and cries for help, for love is meant to console another in compassion, unless it is incessant then love cannot help anymore! (sigh) My heart cries out to yours, sweet friend, this is sooooooo heartwrenchingly beautiful, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Eric, thank you for sharing! May love and light always shine upon you! Love, Noah Eaton "Underneath your clothes there's an endless story..." |

And may the tide come rushing in, and plant a kiss on the shores....of your heart. Hehe, I borrowed that idea from an old, old song. Best to let that lady's heart wash up on some other distant shore. |

Sounds like you're on the right track already, all we can do is wait it out... great things come to those who wait. Strive for higher levels, if they seem out of reach... Grow, and they will get closer. |

This is a fantastic poem, Eric so I'll lie upon the shores of hope once more and pray the tides of love will reach me soon. but if you don't look for love, thats when it will find you. I think I must have written the book on that because it has happened to me TWICE. ~hopeful hugs for you Lyra |

And through the loss comes the hope. Amazing how resilient we are, in the end. I like this Ethome - only thing I didn't like was the ! on the last pain. I've never liked !'s in poems though...I prefer to let the words speak for themselves... I enjoyed this journey... K |

As I return to read another of your well written works, caught in my throat the emotions pouring forth. The best medicine, either in honor or in spite is to live well and bask on the shores of hope. ThisDiamond |
