During recent descent
into my innermost well,
I heard Orpheus' orchestra
tuning up in Hell.
Death beat drumrolls,
fear filled flutes
rising to the surface,
fighting for space
to line my face
with new furrows
of soulful sorrows.

Be still, Orpheus!

My ears and heart are full,
as is my smile.
For Cupid's golden arrow
filled with wondrous Starlight
has captured this maiden,
and it is to his tune
I shall dance soon,
'neath purple mountains
Rockies majesty
under golden moon,
this very July.

Be still, Orpheus!

For I am more Psyche
than Eurydice,
and I shall wantonly
sing, dance and play
in merriment today,
for 'tis LOVE that dwells
within the deepest wells
of my heart and soul.

Be still, Orpheus!

Why's it so scary just to be happy and hope, sometimes?  I know exactly what ya mean, Kacy (if that's what ya mean....lol)

Hey there, Duncan. Thanks for reading and commenting. It can be scary to delve into a new relationship, but I'm not really afraid. In this poem, I tried to show an inner struggle between Orpheus/Fear/Sadness and Cupid/Love/Happiness, with Cupid winning this time. Maybe I rushed this one to post. LOL, I am running out of time, as I only have less than three weeks left before my computer and ISP disappear, and I fly away from here (on a plane, no wings or halo)....You can laugh now.

Kacy...I KNEW you had no wings or halo, 'cause no angel could've been so instrumental in hooking up Tracey and me.  lol  You're not scared, not at all?  I'm impressed!  btw...are you going to keep 'midnitesun'?  I hope so.  (Just me, I hate change...lol)  And you'll be reconnected in Colorado,,,,,I hope!!!??!!!!

Yes, Duncan, I will reconnect in CO, but not right away, it may take a couple of months. I'll repost as midnitesun, but with a new email address. Of course I am a little nervous about the move in general. I have nothing lined up job wise, only a couple of possibilities. Am I insane? Maybe. But I've done this so many times in my life where I've just suddenly moved, that one of my aunts nicknamed me Gypsy girl.  The rough edges of moving always seem to smooth out in time, and I'm positive they will again. When there is a truly special person like Jaime waiting for you at your destination, there really aren't any obstacles to overcome. At least, that's how I feel. But the scariest part is going back to a big city. I've been in a fairly rural setting for six years, and Denver is major metro. GULP! Thanks for being such a good friend here, hope things work out for you and Tracey. I care about both of you. My last day to post will probably be June 14, unless I sneak in with a temporary alias.

Midnite I enjoyed the poem and the internal conflict is a nice touch!

I didn't realize you were moving from mystery land further south. I realize by reading the replies that you have someone waiting at your destination.... I wish you the best and will look forward to your return here.
Because of my work I miss a lot of time here and so I don't know everything that's going on!! However, when I do have time to spend here (it comes in clumps) I really appreciate the closeness of so many of the members!
Have a nice day and an excellent future....
bye for now "Gypsy Girl"

Wow I missed something BIG, evidently. Congrats on you and Jaime, and may it be perfect and wonderful, and nothing but cupid.
Yes, Orpheus should stand back.

JM, LOL at your poor Orpheus reply. Thanks for your reply.
Sandra, Cupid rules, Orpheus drools. (New age mythology.)
jwesley, thanks, I'll only be gone for a short while.
Noah, it's a deal.

As I recall, You have lived in the UK and you are in Alaska now and will soon move to Denver Co. WOW, you really deserve the nickname Gypsy... really wish you and Jamie the best...

Orpheus needs to sit down now.... And I have some duct tape for the dear too..... Hear Orphy..... I am glad Cupid won this one... another notch in his little quiver....LOL

LOVE, light and peace,

I just had too post a reply, i know what you are going through Midnitesun

About 3 yrs ago i decide to move from Acton Ontario ( near Toronto) to Windsor Ontario to be with my girlfriend ( now my wife magicmystery) i too had few if no job oportunities. It was a struggle but LOVE prevailed.  I was scared when i first moved leaving all my freinds of 10+ yrs behind.  Well now i have new friends and a Loving Wife and her charming young boy. So here i am now happily married and a father.

Thank you  for a lovely poem.
Thank you Cupid for bringing love birds together.

Love will pevail.

Your Friend Wilfred

You are a good poet as soon as you try to reach others with your words.
You are a great poet when those same words touch your heart first.

Sherry and Wifred, thanks! What a magical couple you two make! We are lucky to have both of you here. Thank you for your wonderful replies. Orphy..LOL at the modernized nickname, very cool. Sherry, I lived in the Middle East, but never UK, though I have part of my ancestry from merry ol England. Yup, once a gypsy soul, always a gypsy soul. And now, the Colorado Rockies, where I think I'll hear Denver singing in the wind.

Interloper, thank you. And for some reason I was humming that tune in my sleep last night.

Dulcinea, dirty gym sox?? You are too much. Does your shadow give you that much resistance, you have to tie him up/down?
