As night becomes horizon’s glow
where rays of sun stream over the sea
while breezes billow sails in flow
a maiden waits in search of me.

As days fall under moon of cast
into lofty stars heaven found
a lantern glows upon the mast
in sails of full now homeward bound

Tis but a lass of sixteen years
in wait on dock of distant shore
throughout the night of crying tears
a heart in wait of sailing yore.

The locks in curl of auburn hue
above the eyes of darkened gleam
In love of sail and sailor true
when wake of day or night of dream

A kiss so soft on day of sail
with promises of evermore
When sailing men do man the rail
in search of yet a distant shore

A heart so young of virgin skin
in wait of arms and loving eyes
A soul pure gold and strong within
silver cloud among azure skies.

Till ships in sail return to port
and sailors sweep the ladies fair
One heart shall stand in tender beat
with locks of finest silk of hair.

Into the harm of sea and storm
Into the arms of she in warm

It left me breathless it is so lovely. You paint wonderful pictures with words!

...and her crown was formed by the ice in her eyes

Icequeen...for lack of a first name...

Thank you very much....That poem was much
easier to write than the first one of the
evening...One of my faults is...I don't let
the poem steep a while...like fine tea...
and let the words settle...then maybe change
a few...  But I try harder!!

Magnus!  This is reminiscent of all of the good poetry you manage to pull off to take us to a time long gone, and a love so rare...Bravo!

KJ...this period of time is my second
period of history that fascinates me as well.

And to think that I would go out to sea..
take a perfectly good ship (submarine)  and
sink it for 65 days at a time....

I still remember those days around dawn,
watching the clouds, the sun's rays,  the
dolphin breaking the bow wave...the flying
fish flitting out of and back into the
water...  But that could be another poem of
itself...

Thanx Shining One....
