Fireflies Flicker

~*Marge Tindal*~

In gentle flutter across woodsy glade
fireflies flicker in serenade
Castanets beat in winged delight
staccato of blink within my sight~

I can chase and catch them one by one
or simply sit still until they are done
Touching with my eyes in glee
the firefly flicker that I see~

I can entice them to my hair
to sparkle endlessly as I wear
firefly flickers in splendorous array
throughout this night ... into next day~

On this night in Persimmon Hollow ground
fireflies flicker in soft surround
Bringing me a jar full of memory's recall
from nights gone by when their light covered all~

Let me sit on the old porch swinging
as fireflies flicker on light-filled winging~

*For my little buddy, DeeJuneBug*
~Thank you for lighting up my life with delightful tales~

You can write the most beautiful things, Marge. I remember chasing fireflies. Only we called them lightening bugs.

Marge:  This is a delightful poem! I am so intrigued by fireflies and have never seen one. Have lived in the west or the north all my life.  They sound so magical!

OhBettyLou~
They ARE magical !
Suddenly right before your eyes the night takes on a fluttering glow of it's own ... they are surely the 'night lanterns' of the Faeries~

I believe~

And DeeJuneBug ... believes too,... don't we little buddy ?

Marge

And to think, I have never seen a firefly..I think I need to broaden my horizons, don't you?  Thank you for giving me a glimpse of their delight in this poem.

Margie darling sister of my soul what utter utter joy is this fairy delight. As always your pen writes me into rainbow dreams where unicorns play with little cherubs and crystal streams of water tumble over rocks spreading diamond drops of light. Do you realise that this is utterly utterly perfect? Well, beloved heart sister it is, the artwork is stunning and the words as always decorate and lift something stunning into the realms of the incredibly superb. You could give a Masterclass on these too. I told you darling girl we learn by a type of osmosis.

Love and warm stuff
As always
Mushy

Breathe through the heat of our desire
Thy coolness and they balm
Let sense be dumb let flesh retire
Speak through the eathquake wind and fire
Oh

love the vocab and imagery in this cadenced kissed gem of pen...
fireflies are summertimes answer to fairies.
very cute poem Marge, a promise well kept to your "buddie"

I remembering being one and the same ...
closer even than the heat and the flame.

Oh for gosh sakes ...
NO CARDINALS
NO FIREFLIES
You just need to 'broaden your horizons' and come to FLORIDA in September !!!!
Ya' think ??????????????????????????????????

WynterGal~
Yeah ... apparently they either don't have 'em out West ... or they don't go out much at night ... (the people ... not the fireflies)
