Hah, and guess what? I slept like a log last night, but you are right that is for sure, if I ever got 6 hours straight I would jump for joy! Nicely done Lyra ~* Tell someone in your family that you love them today *~ |

I sometimes have this sleeping affliction. And other times, I hit the dream haystack before midnight and awaken refreshed....at 4AM. Five or six hours is cool, and it doesn't matter what the clock says. Enjoyed the read. |

(smiles) Oh dear, I know this feeling ever so much, sweet friend, I have these muses going around in my mind and I think anxiously so much for what tomorrow brings and just the possibilities leave me in insomnia so very much! (kiss on cheek) May you get plenty of sleep tonight and every night after and find many happy mornings to rise to, sweet friend, this is gorgeous, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Lyra, thank you for sharing! May love and light always shine upon you! Love, Noah Eaton "Underneath your clothes there's an endless story..." |

Thanks Martin...how about word tea or poem tea....acttually that is exactly what keeps me awake.... If I start thinking about my poems and I try to write them as I fall asleep, it keeps me awake more than anything else. ~ sleepy hugs Lyra |

Thanks Karilea...I know exactly what you are talking about...thats why that line is there. I always have trouble turning the think mechanism off. Its even worse when I wake up at 5 AM, than it is when I first go to sleep. I can usually fall asleep okay, but I wake up around 4 or 5 AM and start thinking or writing poetry in my head....but ever since the radiation treatments have exhausted me, I haven't had that problem... however, I don't recommend that method of getting some sleep. ~ hope you get some sleep hugs Lyra |

Thanks PDV, I often wake up in the middle of the night or very early morning with my poetry on my mind...and it keeps me very awake. I should probably go and sit at my computer instead of trying to go back to sleep. ~ sleepy poet hugs Lyra |

Thanks so much, Sharon...did you see Titia's reply to this poem? She wants to send you some sheep to count. The only problem would be that you would have to feed them too! Of course, you might get some nice yarn out of the deal. ~sheepish hugs Lyra |

Thanks for your reply, Kacy...I used to be that way until I had radiation. Ever since then, I have been so exhausted that I could sleep through anything. For a while, during the last couple of weeks of that treatment, I would sleep all the way there in the car (an hour and a half) and all the way back. Then I would get home and go straight to bed and sleep until David woke me up to have dinner. Than after dinner, I would sleep through the whole night without stirring, and he had to drag me out of bed to wake up the next morning and the whole cycle would start all over again. I must be recovering because now, I sleep for about 8 hours at night with no naps during the day. Eventually, I'll probably get back to my usual 6 hours/night if I'm lucky. ~ sleepy headed hugs Lyra |

Thanks so much for your reply, Eric... Its interesting how many of us are night poets and night people in general and also how many of us like myself, who like dark stormy weather better than bright sunny days. It must be a poet thing. ~ stormy night hugs Lyra |

Thanks so much, Liz...I have found that most of the poets I know, tend to be night people. Right now, I am sleeping a lot more than usual because I'm still recovering from radiation treatments which are exhausting. I'm getting better though....I'm down to 8 hrs of sleep/night and now naps, from sleeping almost every opportunity I could get. usually about 18 hrs/day. It feels good to be awake again. ~ night poet hugs Lyra |

Wow, I see there are a lot of inomniacs here. I wonder what is it about poets and the inability to sleep? I know every night I pray to sleep, and it is so slow coming. Sandra |

Lyra..I loved this! I would sleep just fine, it's those darn words that keep fitting themselves into my almost dreams, that won't. |
