I'm Old But I Still Need Love |

I shuffle along with my walking frame Down these corridors so cold I can't even remember the last time There were two arms for me to hold Most days here are so depressing There is no life in this horrid place Dark thoughts I have quite often Causing tears to roll down my face Most residents who live here Are without love and so forlorn They mumble like a child So confused their hearts are torn There are times when I feel I'm in a waiting room for the dead So many of us don't wake up After we have gone to bed I wish for mercy on their souls As I sadly whisper my goodbyes The friends I once had were many Now they seem to be dropping like flies I hope they will go somewhere brighter Where joy and love will fill each day And all their sad and unwanted memories Will simply just fade away Suetang |

I really don't know what to say other than it's quite touching and sad.. I'm never good at this, but I guess time heals all.. Kristen [This message has been edited by Ceinwyn (04-11-2002 06:37 PM).] |

(big hugggssssss) Oh Sue, this is so very sad, sweet friend, I believe this happens to so many families, just as it happens to me. I live in a rough neighborhood where everyone seems so cold to each other, and I yearn to move away from this vaudeville and be surrounded by neighbors that love and care for me, just as I know many people do! (sad sigh) My heart goes out to yours, sweet friend, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Sue, thank you for sharing! May love and light always shine upon you! Dear Sue, that was a sad poem indeed, an old peoples home would not be a nice place to finish your days, age is a killer and it is chasing us all. If we try to live with love each day, the love we build will always stay and our spirit will smile forever. Enjoyed the read Sue. Stay well. Sincerely Rick |

Sue, how sad to be old, unloved and forgotten. You portrayed it well and sensitively. Kethry Here in the midst of my lonely abyss, a single joy I find...your presence in my mind. Unknown |

Oh, this makes me want to cry. I used to visit my Grandmoter in the nursing home, and you could see this so strongly, there. Sandra |

This is powerful. It helps to have faith that when the body is gone...so is the pain. |

I do wish there was more compassion for life at the end...it is frightening and sad to see the way some are treated. I applaud you for writing this poem. Hugs! |
