This is for my mother who is now 92 and has alzheimers. My Mother Does Not Remember Me My mother she does not remember me. For she is old and illness has set in. Once long ago I sat upon her knee. And now I hold her hand with wrinkled skin. She does not know what day or year it is. Or just how many children birth she gave. Does not remember every hug and kiss. Or when some loved ones were put in the grave. How sad it is to see her change this way. For I remember her so full of life. And not with wrinkled face and hair of gray. She was a mother, grandmother and wife. Now God awaits her from His throne above. She's done her job, she's given all her love. Floria |

(sad sigh) Oh Floria, this is sooooo beautiful but yet so heartbreaking, I too know how sad it feels to see people grow with age and how their memories begin to disappear, though I know deep down with all my heart she will never ever forget how much she loves you, for you are so very special to you! (EXTRA BIG HUGS) My heart goes out to your loss, sweet friend, I am always here if you ever need someone to talk to! (big hugggssssss) God Bless You, sweet friend, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Floria, thank you for sharing! May love and light always shine upon you! Love, Noah Eaton |

Floria, thank you for this...it brings back memories of my grandmother in her last years. I would visit her in a nursing home...quite a dreadful place...so sad. She would see me standing there...not being able to recognize me....I would walk over to her bed and speak softly to her until she would finally say "Bubby?...Is that you Bubby? ... Then she would go off into a place only she knew and start talking about things from 20 years ago as though they were happening right then... Very heartbreaking. As heartbreaking as I am sure your own is for you... Big Big Hugs.... |

Floria~ I'm so sorry that your Mother's life is ending this way. I can't imagine how helpless you must feel when you can no longer reach her. My heart goes out to you. I can see by her picture she was once full of life. You're a lovely gift that she has given to all of us. Many *hugs* |

This is so hard, I know. My Grandma remembered me, thankfully, her last years. But she forgot that she saw me every time, within a few minutes. The 90's are not so fair to the mind. Your Mom is beautiful. Sandra |

Floria, I am so sad this is happening to your mother. We just went through it with my father in law...and I often wondered if he was happy in that world he was living in...he seemed to be. Your mother is very beautiful, and one can certainly see the resemblance. Beautifully yet sadly written. Hugs. |

You've touched me deeply with this piece Floria. My husband's grandmother is 92 as well, and I left the hospital in tears a few days ago after a visit with her. A very tender read, thank you. Best wishes, /Kit |

I can see from the photo of your mother, Floria...that you have inherited her beauty. Thank you for posting this very heartwrenching write My own mother is almost 87, and is mentally very sharp, but physically frail... I desperately want to get old, but always wonder at the price. ~lots and lots of hugs~ copyright2002 Lyra Nesius |

This one made me cry.... none of this.... "brought tears to my eyes" .... MADE ME CRY.... I know what you are going through... Not long ago, my family went through this with my great-grandmother. She would recognise my mother and then the next... she didn't know who she was and insisted that I was her only grand daughter.... Her mind was slowly unravelling. I pray you find the courage to work through all of this ( you have already shown the love) and be comforted that she will be restored in Heaven.... Love, Light and Peace, Sherry Cherish the good memories past and look forward to the adventure called Tomorrow. |

It takes a lot of courage to watch our parents disappear before our eyes, and I thank you for being able to share this part of your life with all of us.... |

It's so sad to see a loved one like this. My dad's mother, my grandmother, died of a stroke a few years back and her conditions were very similar to Alzheimer's. I appreciate my remaining grandparents more now. (((hugs))) ~sky I'm in charge, and I say question authority! |

Floria It is difficult to change places and become the mother to a parent, especially when they don't know who you are...I guess it is part of what love is all about. Hugs! |

floria, I'm with Madame C...you definitely got it from her. My Grandma came and lived with me for some time after she had lost her mind. We were so close for so many years. But to have that happen to your mom I'm sure is even worse. How wonderful that you can recall all that she has meant to you. Lovely tribute written for your mom. She would be so proud of you. |

Floria, What a wonderful tribute memorializing the love she gave, for just this simle verse is proof of what a devoted mother she was, and that is what you remember when you see her, the life in her face, the deeds of love for her family. Your poetry is always so deeply felt. Wonderful work, Floria Liz |

Thank you Larry, that is what hurts the most, that she cannot be proud of me or share our grief. She does not know that I write, or that we lost our son. It is almost like she isnt even here. thank you so much for your kind words. Floria Floria |

Hello Floria Your words were so very moving and heartfelt and the images crystal clear. Such a terrible disease is Alzheimers and I pity anyone who has to go through it. It must shatter their dignity beyond comprehension. The warmth and love for your mother radiated from your words. Take care......Sue Suetang |
